Now, Now Share New Video for Towering “MJ” Track
Following up after their critically acclaimed 2012 LP Threads, electro-pop band Now, Now released new album Saved earlier this year via Trans Records. Lead single “MJ” now has an accompanying video, which follows frontwoman KC Dalager through a David Lynchian-style mystery. In the song, KC vents to Michael Jackson – someone she looked up to as a child – about a crumbling relationship. KC runs through the woods and digs a grave in the video, and later on her computer, she is consumed by instant messages. The quick splicing between natural scenes and digital imagery is disorienting as it pushes and pulls you through the frames.
Overall, the song pulsates with glowing synth and represents the album as a whole, yet the album almost didn’t happen at all. After Threads, both Brad Hale – Now, Now’s other half – and KC were each going through a lot on a personal level. They questioned whether or not to continue, and struggled through the writing process. Slowly, they found their confidence again and pieced things back together, eventually writing and recording Saved.
Now, Now are currently touring with Hippo Campus through the U.S.
