Los Angeles' artist Shab Ferdowsi is out with a second EP, Thx For Asking, with her project Blushh. An apt title for the follow-up to last summer’s It’s Fine

Prior to the EP’s release, Blushh put out a video for “I’m Over It,” directed by Caleb White. The song is short, catchy, and distorted, and has the kind of positive message that only comes from staying in your negativity too long. It starts with Shab waking up and knocking a potted plant onto the floor. From then, just about everything else that can go wrong does. She’s down to just the crumbs when she tries to pour herself a bowl of cheerios, and the organic milk smells sour and turns up empty too. She rushes out the door with a mug of coffee in one hand and a wrapped present in the other. As she runs, she drops her mug and it shatters in the street. She leaves it behind to catch her bus. Squeezed between two people and with her earphones in, she looks into the camera with a blank expression and sings the chorus. I believe her that she’s over it.

Off the bus, Shab heads inside a house full of deflated balloons and leftover pizza boxes. It seems she got the day wrong for this party she rushed out for. Walking outside and looking at the swimming pool, she pulls her gift - yellow goggles - out of the box. She puts them on and dives straight in, still in her matching yellow t-shirt and jeans. She’s quickly joined by a big group of friends, and the party she missed yesterday begins again. It seems the meaning of “I’m over it” has changed, and now she’s ready to have a good time. The video ends with Shab somersaulting off the pool edge, back into the water.

The sunny video that starts with a series of small disasters and ends with a decision to have a good time anyway is a perfect match to the song’s message. The tracks that follow are “Do I Look Tired?,” “What About My Plants?,” “The Party Song,” and “No One,” which also fall under the three minute mark, leaving the EP just under twelve. Not every song has the same positivity and catchy, sing-along chorus as “I’m Over It,” but the fuzzy guitars keep that summer feeling going throughout.

A full listen of Thx For Asking works great for a car ride to a nearby beach or skate park, or whatever else you may do for summer fun. “I’m Over It” is sure to charm.
