The Foreword Share Latest Single, “Roses,” off Upcoming Record
Yesterday acoustic indie-pop duo The Foreword shared their latest single, “Roses,” off their upcoming record Coffee Cups and Second Shots, produced by Rian Dawson of All Time Low. Consisting of Maggie Schneider and Alex Crain, The Foreword are a breath of fresh air, with an inviting acoustic sound and a balance of vocal harmonies that is sure to make them one of your favorites.
“Roses” is the second release from the album and discusses the downfall of a relationship and wanting it desperately to work out. Schneider talks about the single in detail, “It's an attempted apology for all of the things the couple did to hurt one another. It's about the struggle of moving forward and fixing what is broken. The awkwardness, isolation, and hope to become stronger and find happiness again.” Listen to “Roses” here.
The duo began working together in 2016, Schneider as a solo artist and Crain the lead guitarist in The Everyday Anthem. Eventually, they started their own project that evolved into The Foreword, with pop punk influences such as State Champs, Paramore, and All Time Low.
About the new EP, Schneider explains, "Coffee Cups and Second Shots tells the story of a relationship, and the ups and downs that come with that. Each of the six songs acts as a new scene or chapter in the couple's lives. We wanted make sure that it was a balanced collection of songs, which is why each song is from a unique perspective. It is heavily influenced by contemporary musical theatre songwriters (like Pasek and Paul, as well as Jason Robert Brown), and every song was written together in Maggie's living room. We feel that this EP tells the story of a modern relationship, but also shines a light on our strong friendship."
Coffee Cups and Second Shots will be released on September 28th. We can’t wait to pick up the record next Friday.
