Comprised of vocalist Aimee Interrupter, guitarist Kevin Bivona, bassist Justin Bivona, and drummer Jesse Bivona, ska-punk band The Interrupters formed in Los Angeles in 2011 and have since picked up significant momentum over the last two years. Their latest album, Fight the Good Fight, released last year, has reached substantial acclaim and debuted on Billboard charts the first week of its release.

On the road, The Interrupters recently covered Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy,” transforming the song with their own unique spin. “We were covering Billie Eilish’s ‘Bad Guy’ while on tour all summer,” explains vocalist Aimee Interrupter. “When we had the chance to do this session at Ship-Rec Studios in Los Angeles we thought it would be the perfect song because it’s so fun to play live. We are big fans of Billie and Finneas’s songwriting... What a breath of fresh air for music! Here it is captured live in one take, we hope we did it justice.”

While Eilish’s “Bad Guy” is crafted in a halted, stilted manner, slowly amping up and enclosed in muted tones, The Interrupters spring out of the gate with hyped energy, a brassy trombone, and heavy drum beats. The cover has rock and punk scrawled all over it to create an exciting rendition, which they’ve made their own with vocalist Aimee’s dynamic voice fronting the cause yet still holding onto the original melody.

Coming in at #4 on the Alternative U.S. chart for “She’s Kerosene,” the lead single off of Fight the Good Fight, The Interrupters advanced as the first female-fronted ska band to rank since Grammy Award-winning No Doubt charted in 2012. The Interrupters also climbed the ranks to #1 Alternative Canada and #1 Modern Rock Canada, among various other placements for the track. “She’s Kerosene” as a whole is a flawless blend of banging punk vitality and even verses. The chorus is catchy and upbeat as they proclaim this is the last time they will be spurned.

Their follow up single, “Gave You Everything,” commences in a similar light, although the content leans more into triumph than defiance. Aimee Interrupter shares, “’Gave You Everything’ is a celebration of the moment when you overcome heartbreak, and the person who hurt and betrayed you can’t hurt you anymore.” By no means dragging, electrifying punk takes over completely from front to back and dissolves into striking guitar riffs.

Along with the accolades Fight the Good Fight received, the band made their U.S. television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2018. The Interrupters have sold out numerous headlining dates, and will now embark on additional tour dates in North America this fall. In early 2020, they will make their way through the UK and are set to join Green Day, Fall Out Boy, and Weezer over the summer on the Hella Mega tour.
