Elohim’s “Half Love”

Back in May, Los Angeles artist/producer Elohim released a video for her new single “Half Love” off her recent eponymous debut Elohim, premiering on both MTV Live and mtvU. The album comes after a whirlwind year of touring, original releases, and collaborations.

In the video for “Half Love,” she dances with changing lights and no inhibitions. Yet we never once see her full face, a custom she’s maintained as a way, she’s explained, to open up and not let her appearance skew the experience of her listeners. The song starts slowly and the video begins with Elohim in a mirrored room. As the song builds, the room quakes and the mirrors crack. As the chorus starts, the video begins to alternate between her dancing within the mirrored room and dancing carefree in front of flashing colorful lights. The video draws you in, while the song is a fun, danceable listen with lyrics that tell a broadly familiar story.

This year, Elohim has performed at major festivals including Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Electric Forest, in addition to a full North American tour. “Half Love” and the rest of the album are available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music, and purchase through iTunes, Amazon, and on her website, where you can also find upcoming tour dates.
