London’s Teleman have recently shared new single “Cactus,"  from their upcoming third album, Family of Aliens, out next month. Lead singer and guitarist, Tom Sanders, says the song is about the time we waste indulging ourselves when young, and for many, when we’re grown as well.

“[This song is] for people who spend a lot of time, money and thought on looking good but can’t actually let anyone get close to them. In youth, most preoccupations are base and wasteful - what to wear, what party to go to, who said what to whom. If you carry these on into later life you might be deeply unfulfilled.”

The video, directed by Prosper.Pictures and Lone Taxidermists, focuses in on an inflatable, humanoid cactus as it grows and grows. The image crackles and shifts as we follow cables, ropes, and bulbs around the room. The song is a pulsing, electronic groove that grows in size along with the cactus in the frame. It’s catchy and feels almost like you’re being hypnotized, especially with the glitchy feeling throughout.

The band has been taking a more collaborative writing process for this album. “We want to keep evolving and keep discovering. This band is one long journey for us, and we never want to stop developing and finding new ways of creating music. I'm always wanting to better what we've done before. To go deeper, to find something more beautiful, more catchy, more challenging, more interesting … just more.”

The band will be headlining a UK tour beginning in the fall. Teleman consists of Thomas Sanders (vocals, guitar), Jonny Sanders (synths), Pete Cattermoul (bass), and Hiro Amamiya (drums). Previous releases include Brilliant Sanity in 2016 and Breakfast, put out in 2014.
