Infectious and lively, Wisconsin-based garage rock band The Racing Pulses released a new single last month, titled “Go, Forward!,” the first music shared by the band in two years.

From playing shows in their early years to 2017’s debut album Nothing to Write Home About, the group has gained notoriety for their electric performances, aggressive bass lines, and catchy lyrics. With lives weaved together through a single Craigslist post in 2012, the trio comprised of Kristian Iliev, Mike Newby, and Christian West have since garnered worldwide attention, landing at #15 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart in 2017, followed by a two-month tour through Bulgaria and television appearance in 2018.

Energetic percussion, bass, and power chords start off “Go, Forward!,” a provocative beat that grows as vocalist and frontman Iliev’s voice chimes in, “The flock is ready and so is the team, they're stronger than any you have seen. Do you feel like winning, Breese? Fly with us and you will believe!”

Likely to the surprise of many, the track is written about Wisconsin’s professional outdoor soccer club, Forward Madison FC. About the single, Iliev explains, “As soon as I heard about Forward Madison FC, I wanted to write a song. This club has a great philosophy and brand, already working hard to involve, excite, and enrich the community. This is why we collaborated with talent based in the city, too." This soft spot for soccer also partly comes from Iliev’s father serving as a soccer coach for many years.

The Racing Pulses recorded in the Madison-based recording studio Paradyme Productions with local engineer Yeekeng Yang, bringing in local illustrator Dan Fransee for the artwork of the single. All in all, the ultimate Wisconsin-fueled victory anthem.

Whether you’re prepping for a game or need a good headbang before leaving for school or work, the infectious energy of the track is sure to leave you reeling with excitement. Good news for listeners, too. The Racing Pulses plan to make appearances at Brat Fest this May and Summer Soulstice Festival in June, as well as release additional tracks in the coming months.
