Bristol To Memory is No Longer Just A Memory, New Album This August
Five years since their last EP and nearly a year out from their previous single, Southern California based alt-rock band Bristol To Memory is jumping back into the fray with a new record deal and album, set to come out this summer.
The four-piece announced in late April that they signed to Wiretap Records and will be releasing their debut full-length album, Into You, in August of this year. Formed by brothers Rory and Kealan O’ Connell in 2005, the band’s unique name originates from the names of the cross streets they grew up on in Santa Ana. Rounding out the lineup is their childhood friend Alex Buster on drums and Daniel Wonacott— formerly of Finch— on guitar.
Bristol To Memory’s latest single, “Wrapped Up,” was released on August 9th of last year, and though it leans more towards the pop punk end of the spectrum, their signature alt-rock vibes are still weaved throughout the track. It is an ode to a difficult relationship, bittersweet and biting all in one. The poetic nature of the lyrics is elevated by a searing guitar progression, creating the type of song that’s meant to be blasted at top volume and jumped around to.
With five EPs under their belt, Bristol To Memory have cultivated a true aughts alternative punk rock sound, reminiscent of bands like Brand New and early My Chemical Romance. While instrumentally the band has stuck with the never-failing combination of solid guitars and hard-hitting drums, it is Rory’s vocals and delivery of lyrics that make the band shine. Whether it’s an acoustic ballad such as “Get a Grip” or the punk rager “It Will Happen or It Won’t,” there is a palpable emotion to be found in his voice, an ever present warmth.
Not only does Bristol To Memory have an impressive discography, the band has also toured internationally, most recently in Mexico City, and previously at popular festivals such as Warped Tour and South By Southwest.
Bristol To Memory are excited to release the first single from Into You on June 14th, and will be playing a release show at The Slidebar in Fullerton, CA to celebrate. The show is 21+ only and will be free.
